The Faculty of Medicinal Plants at the Amol University of Special Modern Technologies can be considered the only specialized school for medicinal plants in the country. Given the breadth and diversity of fields related to medicinal plants, and in order to cover all these areas, this school was established with four educational departments: Agricultural Sciences, Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences, and Food and Drug.

Activities in the Agricultural Sciences department focus on the cultivation, post-harvest processes, and processing of medicinal plants. The Basic Sciences department addresses issues related to the chemistry of medicinal plants and the chemical structure of the compounds in these plants. The Clinical Sciences department deals with the therapeutic properties of medicinal plants, while the Food and Drug department focuses on the application and effects of medicinal plants and plant-based medicinal compounds in food and pharmaceutical products.
